Will.i.am, the creator and frontman of The Black Eyed Peas, is renowned for his musical genius and creative prowess. But he’s also a forward-thinking innovator with a passion for pushing boundaries. In a move that surprised many, Will.i.am set his sights on the automotive industry, aiming to leave his mark on the “Big 3” – Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler.
Designing the Dream: A Car with Character
will.i.am wasn’t content with merely entering the auto industry; he wanted to make a statement. Collaborating with West Coast Customs, he embarked on designing his own car, one that would be an embodiment of his unique style and vision. The result was a stunning, one-of-a-kind vehicle that turned heads and raised eyebrows in equal measure.

The Power of a Pitch
But a remarkable car alone wasn’t enough. To pitch his ambitious idea to the leaders of the “Big 3” automakers, Will.i.am needed to go above and beyond. He had a visionary video that showcased his vision for i.am.auto, a video that would be a game-changer. However, he had a challenge: how to ensure that this video could be displayed seamlessly to each leadership team separately, with the video playing simultaneously on 20 iPads for each attendee of each meeting.
My Role as a Digital Marketer
This is where my role came into play. Will.i.am entrusted me to transform his vision into reality. My mission was clear: I needed to ensure that the video played flawlessly on over 20 iPads simultaneously for each meeting. Working closely with Will.i.am’s team, we crafted custom-designed boxes branded with “i.am.auto” to house each iPad.
Crafting the Perfect Pitch
Collaborating with Will.i.am’s team, I took charge of creating the custom packaging for the iPads. These boxes weren’t just containers; they were a statement of i.am.auto’s commitment to innovation and style. The branding, “i.am.auto,” was prominently displayed, leaving no doubt about the message we wanted to convey.
Seamless Simultaneity: The Custom App
The heart of our project lay in the custom app I developed. This app was designed to ensure that Will.i.am’s video played seamlessly and synchronously on all 20 iPads in each meeting. With meticulous attention to detail, I crafted an experience that would leave a lasting impression on the executives of Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler.
The Pitch Meeting
The day of the pitch arrived, and anticipation was high. Will.i.am walked into the boardrooms of these automotive giants, each time armed with our meticulously designed boxes and iPads. As the video began playing on all 20 screens in perfect harmony for each attendee, the impact was undeniable.
